Disability and Illness: Developmental Disabilities Developmental Disabilities Introduction:
The term "developmental disability" can apply to a wide range of cognitive differences. Public Law 94-103 states that a developmental disability is a physical or mental impairment resulting in limitations of major life activities. A developmental disability is manifested before the age of 22 years and is likely to continue. This can include anything from a learning disability, to Ausperger's Syndrome, to mental retardation, and much more. Sexuality information for people with any kind of development disability must be delivered in a way that is accessible and relevant to each. This channel will address some of these issues, and provide links to organizations that offer resources specifically about sexuality for people with varying developmental disabilities.
