Healthy relationships are those in which partners respect and care about each other, and are able to demonstrate these feelings clearly and openly. When one partner has more power in the relationship, however, troubles can begin. Physical abuse is easy to identify – and no one has the right to force anyone to do anything sexually or otherwise that they don’t want to do. Emotional, psychological, and financial abuse are much more difficult to recognize, especially for the person in the relationship. This channel will offer examples of unhealthy relationships, ideas for how a person can recognize whether their partner or spouse is being more controlling than assertive, and resources for where a person in an abusive relationship can go for help.
