Yes, it is possible, although unusual, for pregnancy
to happen without intercourse. You've taken an
important first step in taking responsibility for birth
control, which shows your maturity and concern for
your relationship with your girlfriend. Our culture
doesn't give us much ease in talking about birth control
with our partners. Your choice to explore ways of
lovemaking without intercourse is a form of birth
control, but you can show your caring even further by
speaking openly about sex.
Please understand that although it's very unlikely she is
pregnant, you can only be sure with a pregnancy test.
Tests are sold over the counter, but certainly the only
sure means is with a clinic or doctor. If you can't afford
one or are uncomfortable going to your regular
physician, there are other options. Search the net or
simply your local phone book for a free clinic with
pregnancy tests. Until you get the results, you have an
opportunity to begin a new phase in your relationship
and personal growth for you both, by talking about this
incident.
You may feel confused about what's right for you. If so,
begin by talking honestly to one another about your
confusion. Be sure to get information you and your
girlfriend need from this website, searching the web,
and/or reading. I recommend "Our Bodies, Ourselves
For The New Century," a book by and for women about
health and sexuality, or, if you are the appropriate age
-"Changing Bodies, Changing Lives," a book for teens
about sex and relationships.
