Question:
My boyfriend and i both have hpv. i performed oral sex on him two days ago, and today i noticed white spots on the back of my throat. he doesnt have any visible warts on his penis. could this be the cause, and if so, how can i get rid of these spots. also, what precautions should my boyfriend and i be taking with regard to our sexual relationship?

Hi, Thank you for your questions.

Ideally you should be using a barrier method. HPV (Human Papilloma Virus - or more commonly wart virus) is a common virus. As there is no cure for it, the best treatment is prevention, especially avoidance with any wart-like lesions, especially on the genitalia.

If you still have spots, I suggest you go along to your physician who can take a throat culture, if you have any sort of infection, it will be detected and they can best advise you on what current treatment is appropriate.
