Question:
Hi im a 15 yr old male. I have a few questions about puberty: firstly a lot of my friends are a lot more sexually depeloped than me, and i can acept that because i know different people grow at different rates, but it seems that my penis has been the same size for some time. I have most of my pubic hair and have been developing underarm hair for about 3 months. My penis measures rouglhy 4.5" by 1" when erect and its about the sixe of my thumb when not erect. I was wondering if there was any indication if i am at full siza ans simple have a small penis, whether im due for a growth spurt or is it still growing slowly? once again its been the same size for some time, and i masterbate regulary (once every other day). is this too much? is there anything i can do to make it grow more? and when is it going to grow bigger?? I have seriously considered seeing a doctor for the last year but im just too embarressed! thank you for your time

Well, I can tell you that you have nothing to worry about. At 15 you are no where near the end of your growing time. Look around you and see how many males didn't complete growing body hair and muscles until they were in their early 20's. Yes, some people have growth spurts and grow bones fast, but sexual growth often takes many years.
You are right that different people grow at different rates, but at 15 there is still more to go. One of the stories I love to share with young men like you is that of Michael Jordan, the famous American basketball player. He didn't make his high school basketball team until his senior year because he was too small. His genitals would not have been full grown as well! Look at how he has filled out as a man. That takes time.
So, don't worry. As for masturbation, you can do it as often as you want. If you couldn't go to school or to a job or function in life because you were doing non-stop masturbating then it would be a problem because you couldn't function or would be so tired. It doesn't matter how often you masturbate since it is good for your body.Reviewed by: Patricia Fawver Ph.D. in Sexology
