Question:
Hi, I am a healthy 21 year old virgin male and i have always had a healthy sex drive but around 6-7 months ago, i noticed it diminishing slightly and when i was with a partner i noticed that i wasnt able to get a good erection, which was unusual. At the time, i thought nothing of it and allowed time for it to get better but in the last couple of months my desire has greatly diminished and i find it very difficult to get turned on and erections are not full or totally hard and last very little time. i dont think sex would be possible under these conditions and it could ruin my relationships and prevent a lot of fun. Also, i do not seem to wake up with erections as i did several months ago. altho a virgin, i have had sexual relations and so an STD may be possible but im really stuck as to what it could be at the moment and what i can do to help it! Thanks for your help!

Hmmm.... I recommend going to the doctor. This needs to be checked out and you may need a bloodtest to see what your hormones levels are at. This is not normal, thus go see the doctor. It also could be the sign of a serious medical condition that you are unaware of. Don't be nervous going to the doctor, they are trained to hear this sort of stuff. Find yourself a UROLOGIST to chat with, they are the best of the best for your problem. Don't ignore this or push off seeing the doctor-it's important not only for the fact that it will cause you to have a better sex life sooner and it will rule out any serious things. Thanks for writing in and good luck! Megan Andelloux Editors note: Also, be sure to tell the dr. that you are taking the soy products. Certain forms of soy can have an estrogenic effect on the body, which could possibly lead to a decrease in sexual desire. Therefore, it is important to inform the dr. of all of the products that you are using - both herbal and/or pharmaceutical. Patricia Fawver, Ph.D.
