Question:
I am 12 yrs. old and I discovered masturbating when I was 11. I was a regular masturbator, masturbating at 2 times a day. Now all of a sudden I don't feel like masturbating. Is something wrong or what?

I'm so glad you took the time to write in. One of the most important aspects of learning about one's sexuality is asking questions. After masturbating (I prefer "self pleasuring") twice a day for almost a year, it is perfectly normal to experience less of a desire to continue. Here's another way to look at it: if you ate your absolutely favorite, best-tasting candy bar twice every day for a year, it wouldn't hold the same excitement for you as it once did. You become used to it and it's no longer "special." The same thing happens with self-pleasuring. Don't worry about it, it's not the end for you. It just simply means that it might have become routine for you and it's no longer something special. It's OK to take a break. I believe you'll find yourself wanting to come back to it, just not with the same focus or excitement as you once did. Remember, every new experience is more exciting than regular ones...

I hope this was of some help to you. I wish you continued pleasure in your explorations and discovery of your self and body. Take care and be well.

Larry
