Question:
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I did my best. Anyways, to the point. My girlfriend and I are worried about the possibility of her getting pregnant. Yesterday I masturbated and ejaculated onto the back of my hand (there may have been some on my fingers but if there was in was not visible) and then I wiped it all off with a towel, I made sure there was none, at least that I could see. Then about 10 minutes later I masturbated my girlfriend with the hand I ejaculated on as said earlier. I only rubbed the outside, near the top and I also penetrated her once, up to the first knuckle of my "pointer" finger, which I am sure that there was no semen on. Now I believe the sperm dies after it enters the open air, and very quickly too. However, she is worried, and I was a little too before thinking about everything and realizing the unlikelyhood of the possibility of her getting pregnant. Though, this is something you are allowed to get worried about. I wanted a proffesionals opinion on this, I'd really appreciate a reply.

Hi and thanks for the question. It sounds like the chance of your girlfriend getting pregnant from this is fairly low...but not impossible. She should take a pregnancy test right away and again if she misses her next period. You are right about a couple of things though. Sperm do die fairly quickly with exposure to air and being rubbed off with a towel probably helped to shorten their lives even more. Furthermore, penetration really needs to happen for the sperm to have any decent chance of reaching their goal of the female egg, so only penetrating your girlfriend once with a dry finger probably isn't going to do it. So the odds are definitely on your side. That being said, you should take some precautions to protect yourself in the future. Make sure that you wash your hands with soap and water after getting semen on your hands before touching your partner. This definitely gets rid of any stray semen and sperm. You should only ever touch each other with clean, dry hands so that you're not passing any bacteria or other germs to each other's genitals during sexplay. I hope this was helpful to you. Thanks again for asking your question! Take care, M. Scott Gross
