Question:
Hi Dr. Birch, Here is my question. I am a 22 year old male. I've been listening to talk radio in the mornings and last week, I heard them talk about anal masturbation. I've of course heard about "anal intercourse" to a woman, but anal masturbation for the men? As a man, I am very reluctant about actually doing this, putting "things" in there if you will, much less consider it. But they mentioned about how very stimulating it is to an extent where the ejaculation is a lot more powerful if you will by having a finger in while the other hand is doing you know what. In addition, they mentioned how healthy it is for the prostate. My questions are: 1. is this true? is it really safe or are they just full of it. 2. as far as the internal organs is concerned between the male and the female, don't women have some organs in there that permits us to perform anal on them while us men have our own distinct set of organs that does not permit us to put things in? 3. if you should say that what the talk radio told us were legitimate and should I also decide to try it out, do I make sure that I don't eat anything before I do it to ensure that my anal is clean? My girlfriend isn't into anal sex for now and so I haven't really done much research as far as figuring out what it takes to ensure that her anal is clean prior to performing anal intercourse on her. 4. will it hurt the intestines and other internal organs and parts? I feel silly asking this, but I got to know. I'd appreciate your input.

Wow, lots of questions. I'll try to answer as best I can. First of all, some heterosexual men do enjoy anal stimulation and prostate massage, but others do not. A lot of gay males enjoy anal intercourse, but not all do. Some women enjoy anal penetration, but probably most don't. My point is, it is certainly possible (and men and women have identical anal "design"), some people enjoy it, but it is a matter of individual preferences and mutual consent! There are health risks with unprotected anal intercourse and a condom and lots of lubrication are recommended. My suggestion is to leave well enough alone, unless you and your partner are really interested in learning about anal sex. It is probably an acquired taste and those who have not tried it, certainly do not miss it! And oh yes, your prostate will do fine without digital massage!
