Question:
I began performing oral sex on my girlfriend recently (say maybe 3-4 times a week for 3 weeks)and have noticed in the past week or more that my face is very dry and chapped where her wetness gets on me. my face sometimes stings afterwards where it is wet.

Answer: by Annette Owens: ()
You raise some very good points in your additional information, which is not posted here: You are planning to not perform oral sex on your girl friend for a while to see whether your face clears up. You think that your skin is sensitive to her secretions or maybe that your skin is not used to showering almost daily now that you are with her (You used to shower very infrequently a while back).
I am glad that you are trying to bathe regularly. Many couples enjoy taking a bath individually or together before oral sex and it can be a very sexy part of foreplay. The majority of people I have spoken to over the years prefer being clean themselves and having a clean partner during sexual activity.
I would advise you to keep your daily shower routine up, but to be sure to use mild soaps and rinse with lots of water. It might be a good idea to apply a lotion or cream afterwards, at least to your face. This may prevent the dryness and stinging of your facial skin.
I guess I did not add much else to your own suggestions other than confirming that you are doing the right thing.
All the best,
Annette Owens, MD PhD
Editor's note: It is not uncommon for facial skin to become irritated/sensitive after vaginal secretions or ejaculate has dried upon the face. These fluids tend to have a drying-out effect on the skin and can feel somewhat like a facial mask when they dry. So, as Dr. Owens indicated continue with your hygiene. Simply rinse the fluids off of your face with water when you are done having oral sex and gently pat your skin dry. This may resolve the problem entirely. Dr Fawver.
