Question:
I have a question about my current boyfriend. We have had sex every single night for the last 2 months and about a week ago he started complaining that we are having so much sex that his penis is raw. Is that even possible? I have never heard that before and I don't understand what could be making his penis so irritated. There is no discharge or smells or unusual colors. Please help. Is this really a sexual issue?

Hi and thanks for your question. Two months of sex every night? I'm surprised neither of you has gotten sore before this! All joking aside, it certainly is possible for your boyfriend to be feeling "raw" after this much intercourse and sex play. There are a couple of things that you can do together to help him to recover and get back in the swing of things. First off, you could take a break from sex for a day or two. His penis is probably feeling raw due to all of the rubbing it has been getting and could use a day or two to heal. During that time you could kiss, massage, cuddle, or do non-sexual things like see a movie, make dinner together, or play a game. Secondly, you could add a lubricant to your sex play. Water based lubes are widely available at drug stores (look for things like KY Liquid, Astroglide, or the WET line of products), and they are safe to use with condoms and toys. You may also try a silicone based lubricant (look for products like Eros or WET Platinum), which are also safe to use with condoms and toys (but not silicone based "jelly" toys), but will last longer than water based lubes. Either water based or silicone based lubes will help to keep your boyfriend from feeling raw due to lots of friction or dryness. I wish you both the best of luck, and remember that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Take a break from sex every once in a while and do something else that you both really enjoy together. A relationship is built on much more than having lots of great sex together. Take care, M.
