Hmm....I'm a little concerned with why you are wondering of when to start having sex during/before/after your period. Is it because of pregnancy concerns? Like you don't want to get pregant or you do? I'm just going to go on blind faith and answer as much as I can. You can have sex at anytime during your period. Some cultures, religions stress that a woman is unclean during this time, but that simply is untrue. The vagina, cared for properly, is the cleanest spot on the human being-it's like a self cleaning oven. In terms of pregnancy, day 14 is the most likely time to get pregnant. The egg only lasts for 24 hours, sperm on the other hand can last up to 7 days. Day 14, fyi, starts on the LAST day of your period. So, if you start bleeding on the 14th of the month and end on the 19th, the 19th is day one of your cycle and on the 2nd you are at your most fertile. Be wary though, sperm lives out for up to 7 days before hand so you can get pregnant at any time. You can have sex at any time during, before or after your period, providing you don't want children and are using birth control like the pill, the condom, the shot, nuvaring, the patch, spermacide, etc. If you are concerned with your partner coming in contact with your menstrual blood during sex play, use www.thekeeper.com -freaking great contracption that makes bleeding sex so much better! Remember though, the vagina is the cleanest space on earth as long as it is cared for properly! Have sex whenever you want as long as it is done responsibly and respectfully! Cheers! Megan Andelloux
