Question:
My bf and I had an intercourse without any protection but he didnt cum at all. Im sure there's a precum and im wondering if i could get pregnant from this? We did it 3 times within 7 days. Also, I have irregular periods (5 to 10 days late). My last period was on the 12 of Feb 2005. The first time we did it without ejaculation was on the 4th of march.. He told me that i can't get pregnant from precum. My other question is does precum contain enough sperm to fertilize the egg?... I'm really worried =(

Thanks for your question. Yes, there is precum and it is possible for you to get pregnant if the precum is put into the vagina. Precum may not have very much sperm in it, but any amount of sperm can fertilize the egg. If a male urinates a few minutes before he has intercourse, the sperm is less likely to be present. But precum is designed to clean out the urethra (the tube within the penis) and bring any sperm that may be left over from prior ejaculations out. That is why sperm can be in precum.

If you had your period February 12th, and count ahead about 15-20 days when your next ovulation might be, it seems that you may have been having intercourse (Feb. 27-March 4) when you were having unprotected intercourse. Any sperm present may live up to five days. This puts you at some small risk for pregnancy.

If you do not get your period by the third week in March, I would get a pregnancy test so that you can find out early and have time to make some decisions. With some luck, you will not be pregnant, because as I said above there isn’t much sperm, if any, in each precum fluid BUT there could be!

I know how worried you are and if you get through this crisis I hope you will insist that your boyfriend use condoms before putting his penis at the opening to or in your vagina. It is his responsibility as much as yours to make sure that any unwanted pregnancy does not result. You need to be firm about this. You may not get pregnant this time, but your ‘luck’ could run out AND you are also putting yourself at risk for sexually transmitted infections. Precum DOES carry infection and if your boyfriend has had intercourse before he may not see any symptoms but is giving you something. I urge you to take a stand. You can’t enjoy that intimate wonderful sexual relationship if you are worried about what might happen to you. It should be something pleasurable and intimate for BOTH of you. That means that BOTH of you need to make sure that you are BOTH safe.
