Question:
Dera Dr. Yvonne Fulbright: If I may, I want to ask one question about adolescent sexuality, and I would be very grateful if you can clarify this to me. I apologize in advance for such an “open” question, but I think that you, as the Sex Educator, receive many “explicit” questions. According to some books, the majority of men masturbate using the hand, and only the minority of men masturbate by friction of the penis against a pillow, a bed, etc. According to the same literature, the rubbing the penis against a pillow and a bed is aanother common practice especially for adolescence, which simulates intercourse. I am wondering: is friction against a pillow considered a normal and healthy masturbatory technique for boys and men? And which masturbatory method is better for the sexual well being: by hand or rubbibg the penis against a bed, a pillow, etc.? Once again, thank you so much for your knowledge, kindness and willingness to educate people and clarify some issues of human sexuality. I hope to receive your clarification. With warm regards

The most common method of masturbation for men is using the hand, but many men use other techniques to get off, like masturbating with a pillow. Neither method is better than the other - it's mostly a matter of preference and what feels good - all of which are healthy and normal for males. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network.
