Question:
Dear Doc,
I was studying the material about Herpes, I have it among my legs, so its the genital herpes. I am not married yet. And i never had any kind of oral sex all my life. I don know how i got it, rashes among legs, secretion on the testicles, and sometimes on the cap of my pinus too. I take shower daily and in normal life I am very neat and clean. The weather conditions may effect coz the weather here is hot and its very sweaty most of the time. I have a sweating problem as my legs get really sweaty during the summer season. Is it a cause of that?.. how can i control it?.. which kind of medics can be helpful for that?... I will be waiting for your reply anxiously. thanks..

You need to go and see a doctor to determine if this is herpes or not. From what you describe, it could be herpes, or it could be something else. Herpes can be contracted through oral sex, intercourse, or even manual stimulation if the saliva being used for lubrication contains the herpes virus. It used to be that doctors distinguished between herpes type 1 (on the mouth)and herpes type 2 (on the genitals). Nowadays, that distinction doesn't matter much, because herpes can be contracted in several ways. So, you need to get to the doctor and find out what is causing this. If it does turn out that you do have herpes, it is important to keep the genital area clean and dry during an outbreak. Since you live in a hot and humid climate, I would suggest that after you bathe, gently towel dry the area, and then use a hair dryer (on the cool setting) to thoroughly dry the area. Also, loose fitting pants or shorts should help keep you more comfortable and also to keep the genital area from getting too sweaty. If you wear underpants, they should be made of cotton rather than a synthetic material to help absorbe moisture. Good luck to you.Reviewed by: Kathleen VanKirk DHS
