I am not the best expert on the panel at sexualhealth.com to answer this question since this is not my medical speciality. I could answer it from a female point of view as I had a similar procedure when I was in my early 20's. It was not painful at all. The treatment removed the tissue that was dysplastic and has not reappeared. I do want you to write to someone else on the panel who has an MD behind their name. They would be able to give you more information than I can.
