Question:
About a week ago, I started Birth Control LO/OVRAL-28 pills. I have gotten past initial cramps and mood swings, but now I have noticed a problem sexually. I have no problem getting wet initially, but after some sex (about 15 minutes) I have been getting completely dry. It gets to the point where I have to stop and leave my boyfriend unsatisfied. I don't like doing this. Could this be related to the birth control? Or is this a symptom of a failure in the relationship? We have been involved sexually for only 2 1/2 months, although it is a daily activity, so I hope I have not already lost interest! I definitely still find him attractive, and I desire sex, but maybe I lose interest half-way through? What do you think?

Answer: by Susan Kellogg-Spadt: ()
Sometimes the birth control pill causes vaginal dryness and a little less interest in sex as a result of altering your hormone levels. Rather than quit the pill all together, talk to the person who prescribed it and tell them what's going on. They'll probably change you to a pill with a slightly different balance of hormones and you'll likely feel better.Reviewed by: Patricia Fawver Ph.D. in Sexology
