Question:
Recently my wife missed one of her birth control pills. I was wondering how missing the pill effects how well it works.. Also, we dont like using condoms and have heard that when used correctly, pulling out is effective. Do u recommend using the withdrawl method when she misses a pill?

Thanks for your question. My answer is really going to be prefaced by suggesting that you consider how much of a risk you want to take. Birth control pills today are created in a low dosage so that the nuisance effects are not distracting to the woman. The low dose means that the body needs to have the pill daily at the same time each day. When a pill is missed the body may think that it now should make an egg and start the process during the missed pill day. Approximately ten days to two weeks later though she is still taking the pill, an egg may be ovulated.

That is why it is suggested that condoms be utilized since the presence of an egg is always a potential pregnancy for you. Certainly pulling out, or withdrawal as it is also commonly called, can be helpful in reducing the risk of pregnancy. It must be utilized correctly, so that no sperm gets into the vagina or the risk is there.

Since you don't like using condoms you have to be willing to take more of a risk with withdrawal. You may have only tried using latex condoms which can feel tighter and have less feeling with them. You might want to try using polyurethane condoms which often feel better. YOu can feel the heat of your genitals and there is much more sensation. The condoms can be REality, the female condom, put into her vagina, or one of the two-three male condoms on the market today. JUst check to see that they are polyurethane rather than latex.

HOpefully this information will help you. Thanks again for writing and feel free to write us again.
