Question:
After having sex with my wife and ejaculating inside of her we have noticed that there is a large amount of sperm released from her vagina upon removal of my penis. Could you please offer any answer to this question.

Thank you for contacting us with your concern. You noted in your additional information that you are trying to conceive a baby. It is normal for some of the sperm to come out of the vagina after intercourse. I would advise you to have your wife remain on her back with a pillow under her buttocks for a while after intercourse. This way, gravity will let the sperm migrate towards her uterus instead of out of her vagina, possibly improving your chances to conceive. Good luck and best wishes, Annette Owens, MD PhD
