Hi,
I can't give you any statistical information on how common this situation is, but it's certainly not impossible that you could be masturbating in your sleep. Much like other sleep behaviors (such as sleepwalking or talking in your sleep) this is probably outside of your conscious control without a sleep therapist of some sort.
Honestly, I'm not an expert in sleep therapy or sleep disorders, so I am not sure who to tell you to contact. If it's really a big problem, you might wish to see if your doctor can refer you to a sleep clinic. I know it's embarassing, but I assure you, your doctor has probably heard it all!
You say your husband gets angry about this, and I can't help but wonder why. Surely he must realize that this is not something you are doing as a personal insult to him. I don't think it is something you can control very easily. Would he be angry if you were sleepwalking, too? Would he expect you to be angry if he was having wet dreams?
You didn't ask me for relationship advice, but perhaps this is an issue you guys should talk more about. If it continues to be a problem, you could always consult an external resource such as a relationship counselor.
Good luck to both of you,
