Question:
HI, I have a question about female discharge. My boyfriend say I used to be very sweet tasting now my body fluid has become sour, not to be to graphic but it smells just like a condom. I have also been bleeding between period and I am on ortho tricyclen. Is there anything I can do, such as changing my diet? Thank you so much.

Thank you for your question. There are quite a number of things that can affect female vaginal discharge, infection, diet, medications and smoking are the biggest things which can and do, have a direct effect on your 'taste'. It is possible you may have a thrush or monilial infection. If you also have itching, odor and a yellowish discharge, then that could be the case. A check with your doctor and a vaginal swab can determine whether or not you do. If this problem is a side effect of your contraceptive medication, you could discuss that with your doctor as well. So get it checked out by your doctor. Also, as you have also suggested diet does play a role in taste. What you can do prior to lovemaking to sweeten up your taste is: A couple hours before have some orange juice or sweetened fruit juice and immediately prior have a shower and wash yourself really well with warm soapy water to remove any stale discharge and odor. Avoid using things like vaginal deodorants. Another idea is to apply just a tiny amount of a sweet tasting lubricant (glycerine based) with additional flavour - such as passionfruit, strawberry, banana or cherry, to your vulva a short period before hand to add to your own taste. Please feel free to ask any further questions, and thank you for coming to The Sexual Health Network Melissa BEE
