Question:
I am 31 and my vagina has not been able to lubricate adequately fo sex since I was 17. Prior to that time I had no problem with several lovers. Since then I must use KY Jelly or some other lubrcation for sexual activity, and I usually have to reapply lubrication several times. Even then I am often sore afterwards. It is a major problem in my lose life and with my confidence and comfort with my body. I do sometimes get a little bit wet when I am aroused, but it doesn't last and it is never enough. The problem is not that I am not aroused. I have a high sex drive and love sex. Since I was 17 I have had many lovers, both casual and long-term relationships. The sex has been satisfying in that I am able to orgasm, but I have a lot of anxiety during sex because of this problem and it gets in the way of my enjoyment. Some other things that may be important to know: I started having problems with frequent urination around this time also, about once an hour, but no pain. No urologists was able to find a problem that caused it and gynocologists have not been able to help me with my lubrication problem. I have tried going off bith control pills, have tried taking Fenugreek a little, and I'm wondering if acupuncture may help; have you heard anything about that? I am not dry because of my age so it must be something else. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Dear Madam Thank you for your question. The use of a pill containing a high dose estrogen seems a good option. If it did not have an effect on you, you nat try using estrogen cream, locally. This have not been followed up for long periods of time, so we cannot assure it safety for a long term use. You can also try on some local lybricants that contain a cellulose-type compunds-like the natural tears thing. If these have not been effective, yes, I would like to see what acumuncture will have to say. There are many things that as of yet, are not fully ynderstood through the way we think and teach 'western' medicine. In many occasions alternate medicine proved miraculuous. Hope you confirm this...
