It is not unusual for a young woman to be 15 and still not be menstruating yet. It sounds as if you are getting close because your body is maturing, and one of the signs is the white gooey substance you are noticing.

This isn't necessarily a sign of your period about to come and but it shows that you are getting sexually aroused when you masturbate. The vagina of a woman develops lubrication when she is sexually excited (and also increases even without sexual excitement around ovulation time) and gravity eventually pulls the lubrication (the white gooey substance) out of the body, so it can be noticed. You might be making more of it if you are masturbating several times a week, and therefore it will be more noticeable.

As far as your period, you probably will get it within the next few months so you shouldn't worry. If you are 17 and haven't gotten it you might make an appointment with a gynecologist who can examine you to make sure everything is as it should be.

Just keep in mind it takes several years for a woman to mature so you are still within the range of "normal" when it comes to developing. Some people get their periods as early as 9, others are 16 or slightly older.

Just relax. It will come soon enough.

Please write back if you have more questions.
