Question:
I have been masturbating for a long time now, but my problem is....When i was younger(before i masturbated)my periods were normal.When i started masturbating my periods started skipping.If I masturbated days before my period,that when it would skip!Now i dont et a period at all unless i dont masturbate at all, and when i do start my period it is very lite and last between spotting to 12 days!We have been trying to have a baby for 6 years and nothing! Is the problem with me masturbating?Why am i not getting pregnant?and where are my normal periods?It makes me depressed because i really want to have a baby and start a family!

Thank you for your question. I wish I had an easy answer for you, though I don't think your ability to be pregnant now is at all related to masturbation.

There is nothing about masturbation that influences or regulates the hormones that your body needs to develop and ovulate an egg, and then to prepare your uterus for a pregnancy. These are related to something very different that your sexual pleasure response, which masturbation taps into.

You wrote that it was when you started masturbating that your periods started skipping. That is entirely coincidental since it is common for periods to begin changing as your body grows and develops. At the same time your sexual feelings would be intensifying so the desire to masturbate would be even higher.

It is only through examination by doctors and the testing that they can do for you that you will be able to determine what might be interfering with your ability to get pregnant. I urge you to contact a qualified gynecologist or other specialist in fertility and get to the real possible cause. Masturbation, though connected in your mind, is not really related to potential pregnancy in any way.
