Question:
When I have vaginal intercourse I feel pressure against my rectum and it makes me very uncomfortable because I feel like I might have an accident. I can't enjoy sex because I'm too preoccupied. This pressure is more intense when positioned such that my knees are towards my chest. What can I do? What might be the problem?

Yours is a question that others have had, so you are not alone. The rectum, bladder and vagina are all very close in proximity so it is not unusual to feel the pressure, especially in certain positions. Each body is built slightly differently, and some feel pressure on the bladder and feel they are going to urinate. Yours is more on the rectum.

One thing you might do is to make sure you have eliminated as much from the rectum as you can before you have intercourse. That should ease your mind some. There will not be anything in the lower rectum to come out even though you feel the pressure. I would also suggest that you talk to your partner so that he is aware of what you are feeling. Then the two of you can experiment with positions that don’t cause that pressure for you, or you can create a signal that you give him when you feel the pressure and he can then shift is weight or position. Couples do this all the time. It is part of learning to enjoy sexual behaviors with one another. There is nothing abnormal about you at all, so don’t worry. Once you learn to relax more, you may not even feel the pressure anymore

The cyst that you talk about may be related to your feeling of pressure, and the only way to know is to see your doctor and explain about the pressure you feel on the rectum when you are having intercourse. The doctor can then examine you to see if there is a physical cause.
