Question:
I delivered a large baby, 10lb. 12oz. Since I have lost most mucsle tone and sexual pleasure. I have also lost self-esteem and sexual confidence. When I approached by ob/gyn he adivised that surgery shouldn't be considered but estrogen at a later time (I'm 41) I know there are options to restore my body and self-esteem but do not know where to find them. Please forward any information. I appreciate your consideration

It sounds as though the delivery has changed the tone and elasticity of your pelvic floor muscles (the muscles surrounding your vagina, rectum and bladder)which is common after delivery of a large baby. As a result you may have less sexual sensation and maybe changes in your bowel and bladder habits. There are pelvic floor specialists in most major cities that you may wish to consult..if not, look in the telephone book for specialists in incontinence. Whether you lose urine or not, these specialists know alot about the pelvic floor and may be able to assist you in rehabilitating these muscles through techniques like biofeedback and electrical stimulation. You don't have to just live with this, so keep investigating your options. Good luck.
