Question:
Hello, well here it goes...On Sep.8th, i awoke at one of my friends houses and discovered one of his friends rubbing his penis on my vagina. As soon as i realized what was going on, i ran to the bathroom and washed myself with bactine. On the 12th i got my period, i was light, but lasted around four days, at this time i was under severe stress because i had to tell all of this to my husband. Now I am pregnant, and im worried the baby is not my husbands. I would like to know the chances of me being pregnant from this incident and i have also had regular pre natal care, and a sonogram every month because i live in germany. Could i please get some info to ease my mind, ive been worried about this ever since i found out im pregnant. Thank you very much for your time, i also love this site, its very informative.

Thank you for your question. I can imagine that you are concerned because of the situation you describe. Finding out that someone is fondling you with his penis when you are asleep is very anxiety producing.

To easy your mind, it is not at all likely that you are pregnant from this situation. Even if he had been aroused enough to leave precum at the opening of the vagina, or even ejaculated there, sperm (which is microscopic and inside of the whitish fluid, semen) is very fragile. It doesn't have the power to swim inside of you from the outside. Even when it is ejaculated inside the vagina pregnancy doesn't happen readily, especially if there is no egg present. The egg is only present for about 24 hours in a monthly cycle. It would not have been present on the 8th if you got a period on the 12th. It usually takes about 14 days for the body to signal the uterine lining to shed after ovulation (and the egg is present) has occured. Four days from what you experienced to a period is not enough time.

Chances are you became pregnant by your husband days or weeks after this. Since this is the end of May, the baby would be due now if pregnancy had occured on Sept. 8th anyway. You didn't indicate in your email that you were that close to delivery.

I am glad you have gotten good prenatal care and everything is healthy in your pregnancy. Now you should be able to quit worrying that you might be carrying another man's child. I just don't see with the information you gave me that it is possible, given how pregnancy does occur and the timing of all the events.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and I hope you will enjoy your new baby. Thanks for writing and if you need more information, please write back.
